CHANGE OF REGISTRAR

As of 6th October 2016, Laura Teege was appointed to the role of AHCS Registrar, with Sally McPhie leaving ABRI (the Society's secretarial body).

We thank Sally McPhie for her years of hard work and diligence in performing the Registrar role for the AHCS and wish her well for the future.

25TH ANNIVERSARY ANNUAL SHOW

In 2016 the Society was excited to hold its 25th Anniversary National Highland Show.

On 2nd April 2016, AHCS breeders showcased their best Highland cattle at the Ballarat Showgrounds in Victoria. Judge William "Willie" Christie was flown in from New Zealand to appraise the cattle on display. Willie currently runs his Skeoch Highland Fold near Ashburton on the South Island of New Zealand, although prior to 1997 he resided in Scotland, where he was the stockman at Benmore Fold, one of the most prestigious Scottish Highland folds.

Junior breeder, Ashlyn Hastie, took out Supreme Highland Exhibit for the second-year running with her black cow Skye Keir of Delhaig.

The prize of Grand Champion bull was awarded to Lord Addams of Glenstrae, bred and exhibited by Erica Smith of Victoria.

Planning is now underway for the 2017 AHCS National show which will be held at Mount Pleasant Showgrounds in South Australia on 11th June 2017.

In January 2017, we launched our new Classifieds website. The new site provides increased functionality and advertising is provided free of charge for AHCS members. Members can advertise Cattle for Sale or Lease, Wanted to Buy or Lease, and Semen Sales. The new site puts content and formatting of advertisements in control of members, with the capability to post and edit their own ads directly online.
